An immersive 3-day educational journey to NASA's Space Center in Houston — where low-income students complete 7 missions alongside NASA engineers and military personnel.
The STEMLiner is an immersive and intentional endeavor for low-income students to build on their natural abilities through experiential learning opportunities at the NASA Space Center in Houston.
Students embark on a 3-day educational journey to complete 7 missions as they navigate various complex simulations with NASA mentors and military personnel.
STEMLiner aims to inspire young minds to think critically and create a positive impact on the world around them through careers in STEM fields. The goal is to provide Middle School and High School students a hands-on experiential learning opportunity on site with trained military personnel and NASA engineers.
Students design a solution to address societal challenges using AI and autonomous drone technology.
Students engineer and design a space suit using various insulators and conductors while learning about the xEMU, NASA's new Lunar Artemis spacesuit.
Teams code robots to navigate an obstacle course representing the Moon in order to scan various hydrogen sources on the Lunar surface.
Students design a Thermal Protection System (TPS) to withstand 2500°F in order to protect an astronaut using various conductors and insulators.
Students learn about careers in space studies including space environment, astrodynamics, launch vehicles, and spacecraft design.
Students design, build, and launch rockets applying principles of aerodynamics and propulsion in hands-on engineering challenges.
Two additional missions: Rocket Building and Cybersecurity — expanding students' understanding of aerospace engineering and digital security in today's world.
Exposure to actual NASA facilities and equipment gives students an unmatched understanding of science in practice.
Students build teamwork, critical thinking, and leadership skills through collaborative mission challenges.
Direct mentorship from NASA engineers and military professionals shows students what careers in STEM look like.
All workshops are aligned with NGSS and build on the 3 primary concepts students learn during the school year.
Students apply the scientific method and engineering design process to solve complex, real-world space challenges.
Students leave with increased confidence, STEM knowledge, and a clearer vision for their academic and career futures.
The STEMLiner program is open to Middle School and High School students in South Los Angeles. Contact us to learn how to participate.
